University of Adelaide
The University of Adelaide was established in 1874 and is the third oldest university in Australia.
A medium sized university with about 14,000 students, it is regarded as one of Australia's leading educational institutions with an outstanding international reputation for excellence in both research and teaching.
The University's Faculty of Sciences, through its School of Agriculture and Wine, is heavily involved in the CRC for Viticulture.
The School of Agriculture and Wine is primarily based at the Waite Campus - a facility with a worldwide reputation for teaching and research.
The Campus features 174 hectares ranging from landscaped grounds that encompass sports, administration, teaching, research and historical facilities.
These facilities represent the most modern technology available including a wine science laboratory that has state-of-the-art equipment for research into grape and wine quality, food processing and essential and edible oil production. It houses gas chromatographs, mass spectrometers, high performance liquid chromatographs, superficial fluid extraction systems and an array of ancillary equipment.
The School of Agriculture and Wine has strong synergistic relations with other research bodies collocated at the Waite Campus. These include the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI), CSIRO Land and Water and Plant Industries, The Australian Wine Research Institute and Primary Industries and Resources South Australia, the CRC for Molecular Plant Breeding and CRC for Weed Management Systems.
