CRCV Governance and Management
Governance and management of the CRCV are conducted by the Board and Executive Management Group respectively.
This structure is designed to serve two distinct functions: to manage the CRCV program so that it delivers sustainable and measurable improvements to the viticulture industry through the application of research outcomes; and to engage industry through the governance and management of its research and education programs and thus facilitate a smooth transition to an enduring industry-funded and managed research and education facility based on the CRC model.
CRCV Board
The principal functions and responsibilities of the Governing Board are to:
- Oversee the management and development of the Centre
- Approve annual budgets and programs
- Determine Centre policy on all matters relating to the objectives and the activities
- Devise or approve strategies for the achievement of the objectives
- Monitor and review the operations of the Centre
- Monitor and assess its own performance and that of the CEO
- Ensure that the Centre and its activities are carried on in compliance with the Commonwealth Agreement
The Board comprises 11 people including:
- CRCV Chief Executive Officer
- Independent Chairman
- Two appointees of the Winegrape Growers' Council of Australia Inc (one of whom must have knowledge of the dried vine fruits industry).
- Two appointees of the Winemakers' Federation of Australia Inc
- Appointee of CSIRO
- Joint appointee of the University of Adelaide and Primary Industries and Resources, South Australia on behalf of all Parties for the time being which are research or education institutions, bodies or agencies having their principal location in South Australia.
- Appointee of the Department of Primary Industries, Victoria on behalf of all Parties for the time being which are research or education institutions, bodies or agencies having their principal location in Victoria.
- Joint appointee of the Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation and the Dried Fruits Research and Development Council.
- Appointee of the National Wine and Grape Industry Centre on behalf of all Parties for the time being which are research or education institutions, bodies or agencies having their principal location in New South Wales.
- One appointee is also to have knowledge of The Australian Wine Research Institute.
The Board of the joint venture has a governance role and members are nominated for their personal skills and expertise rather than as representatives of their nominating bodies. An alternate will be appointed for each Board member.
